Design and TheoryAccu-Staltic Concept drawing showing peristalsis

Ledebuhr Industries' patented Accu-Staltic metering pumps provide a simple, reliable, and accurate device for your precision fluid metering needs. Accu-Staltic pumps are peristaltic style pumps. Similar to squeeze pumps, peristaltic pumps have been widely used for decades in applications where low pressure and repeated accuracy are essential.

Peristalsis — What is a peristaltic pump?

You might not realize this, but you are a peristaltic pump, or at least your gastro-intestinal tract is. When you swallow, your throat squeezes shut and forces food or liquids through your gut, all the way down the line. This is called peristalsis. In a similar manner, the pump operates by squeezing shut (occluding) flexible tube between a roller and a fixed surface. Fluid is pushed through the tube in the same manner as a human swallowing. As the rollers pass, the hose rebounds, gulping in more fluid from the intake manifold. The next roller squeezes the hose shut and the process repeats.

The Accu-Staltic pump requires no valves, and the fluid is retained in the hose, never directly wetting the pump. The pump can meter a variety of difficult applications like oils, suspensions, concentrates, slurries, and emulsions. Fluids to 3000 cP (honey) can be pumped easily, and depending on the application and fluid properties, materials up to 10,000 cP (axle grease)can be pumped.

"The Accu-Staltics™ are a huge improvement over the [competitor pumps] that we used to use. Not only do they cost less up front, but the tubes last longer in them, you can inspect the tubing to see thin spots before the hose bursts, and even if you let it go and do blow a hose, big deal, its not gonna hurt the pump. When they do wear out, a rebuild is no big deal. I can't sell a machine without them. Nobody wants the other ones."

The secret to our accuracy and repeatability:

Accu-Staltic pumps produce consistent, accurate flow rates in all channels. Thanks to improvements in tubing elastomers, pressures to 100 PSI can now be achieved in certain circumstances. Click here to see flow curves.

How do we do this? The concept of fixed occlusion distinguishes Accu-Staltic pumps from other peristaltic and squeeze pumps. When the cover (stator) is clamped in place, the distance between it and the rotor is always exactly the same. That means that no matter how many times the pump is dis-assembled, it will always squeeze any piece of tubing to the exact same point of occlusion. This is accomplished by our patented design and by holding consistent, tight manufacturing tolerances. All critical components of our pumps are made of metal, with massive stainless steel rollers and shafts, oversized bearings, and a heavy base frame. No part will flex or bow as the pump turns, insuring that every time the tube occludes, it occludes exactly the same way.

Any commercially available tubing of a given nominal wall thickness will occlude without back-flow. After replacing worn tubes, you will not have to adjust the pump to restore it to its original flow rate.

Operational Flexibility

Accustaltic pumps are modular. Change motors, change manifolds, change tubing size- with only a couple of bolts and a few spare parts. If your needs change, your pump can change with them.

"The Accuracy is closer to +/- 1%. When the rate controller says it pumped 300 gallons, you look in the tank and only the sump is full. It's that way the whole season long, no variation."
