Proptec Builder : Hubs (1st atomization stage)

The first stage of an atomizer — or hub — catches the fluid, distributes it, and expels it as coarse droplets. There are 4 considerations when picking a hub:

1. If you are building an air- assisted atomizer or need air- assist, choose option E or F. The others do not incorporate fan blades.
2. Hubs are made of 6061 Aluminum, HYDEX, or 410 Stainless Steel. Choose a material that is compatible with your process.
3. Each hub has a maximum flow rate. For the most uniform spray distribution, choose the lowest flow rate that meets your oprational parameters.
4. Each hub has a maximum suspended particle size. This is important If you are spraying suspensions or slurries. For the most uniform spray distribution, choose the hub with the smallest suspended particle size to meet your operational parameters.
